SFWA Members:
Capo's step-by-step instructions for SFWA members may help you find your way through your free signup on SFF Net. We get a freeflag here just as we did at GEnie, but in reverse: there we had to pay for basic service but were freeflagged the extras. Here we're freeflagged for basic service but have to pay for the extras. Your free SFF Net membership does not come with a mailbox, Web page space, or a personal newsgroup. What it does come with is complete access to all the public and private areas of SFWA and SFF Net, any time of the day or night, as long or as little as you like, absolutely free of any charge to you. This includes the SFWA site private areas, SFF Net's private newsgroups including private SFWA newsgroups, chat, IRC, and all the public newsgroups. If you don't know what a newsgroup is, or have trouble using them, or need step-by-step instructions to find private SFWA newsgroups, the linked help files may answer your questions. There are more help files where those came from; and comprehensive help files on SFF Net for all these subjects; and as a last resort, you can always write for personal assistance. We will do everything we can to make your SFWA/SFF Net experience a happy one.

Welcome, Everyone! All Genie refugees are welcome, whether they're SFWA members or not. There are many public newsgroups (also available via Web-based access) and public areas on SFF Net that are open to everyone, and lots more good stuff if you join. See the membership rates on the signup form for the advantages to joining SFF Net. But please don't feel left out if you can't afford to join, and don't feel you must join before you know whether you like it here. There's plenty to do as a "guest," and we really hope you'll stick around whether you decide to join or not. If you need help getting started, all the help files listed in the left column are accessible by everyone. Just remember that references to "free membership" apply only to SFWA members. However, you don't need a membership to get started. Everyone has access to the public newsgroups. Please drop in and see how you like the place.
