Kirk Alyn, the actor who played the first Superman, passed away on Sunday, March 14, 1999. Alyn, age 88, died in a hospital in suburban Houston, Texas.
Alyn stared in two 15-part serials, Superman and Atom Man vs. Superman, but to maintain the Superman mystique, his name never appeared in the credits.
Kirk Alyn had credited rolls in 6 movies, including Forty Thieves and The Man From the Rio Grande. He also had an uncredited role as Lois Lane’s father in the 1978 Superman: The Movie.
