I would love to see more small presses run with the level of professionalism you suggest, so authors who want to be published would have more options. Unfortunately, these companies are not only inexperienced but woefully underfunded. I would say, if they don’t have the capital to get it off the ground and run it for a year at a loss, they probably shouldn’t start, because they’ll run out of money before they get the ROI.
