Wow. I was doing some catch up reading tonight and ran across this. I realize that I have been doing this lately. We so often hunger for feedback, for the connection with others. It is so easy to get caught up watching the work that you never really get into the rythmn. Thank you for this, it came at a good time.

Yes David, Steven's post does make that point. All one sentence of it, in all of it's obviousness and simple-minded banality. My objection (apart from the obviousness and simple-minded banality of that point) is with the other 4700 words of this silly, tedious, and self-important post.

SFWA is about writing, not just the style, grammar, and story arcs but about BEING a writer. It's a full time job and it should be treated as such. That's what Steven was trying to say. Don't bask in the sun, hunt for your dinner.

There's always the guy who hears but does not listen. Don't be that guy.

I think Karl may not get the irony of his comment. If Steven follows his own advice, he'll never see it.
