Japanese Seiun Award winners

The 1999 Seiun Awards were announced at the 39th Japan Science Fiction Convention (Zero-Con) held in Pacifico Yokohama on August 5, 2000. Nominations were announced in May by the Japan Fan Confederation and voting was conducted by fans prior to the annual Japan Science Fiction Convention:

Japan Long Fiction: Good Luck Sento Yosei Yukikaze by Chohei Kanbayashi

Japan Short Fiction: "Taiyo no Sandatsusha" by Hosuke Nojiri

Overseas Long Fiction: Kirinyaga by Mike Resnick (Translated by Masayuki Uchida)

Overseas Short Fiction: "Out of the Everywhere" by James Tiptree Jr. (Translated by Norio Ito)

Media: Bebop by Shin-ichiro Watanabe

Comic Strips/Books: Itihaasa by Wakako Mizuki

Art: Kenji Tusuruta

Nonfiction: AIBO by Sony

Mike Resnick will receive a certificate and momento of the Seiun Award at the beginning of the Hugo Awards presentation at the World Science Fiction Convention in Chicago, IL on September 2.
