*************************************************** Card and Powers win Geffen Awards *************************************************** The third annual Geffen Awards were announced Friday, October 5th at Icon 2001, the annual Israeli SF&F convention. The awards were voted by the participants of the convention. Since there is very little original SF&F published in Israel, original material is nominated along with translations in two catagories. The Israeli Society for Science Fiction and Fantasy, which administers the Geffen award (which is named after the late Amos Geffen, a co-founder of the Society and a trailblazer in SF publishing in Israel) hopes to add more categories in the future. Best SF: Ender's Shadow by Orson Scott Card, translation by Rechavia Berman Best Fantasy: The Anubis Gates by Tim Powers, translation by Vered Tuchterman Posted October 5, 2001 |
