Stephenson wins Arthur C. Clarke Award

The 2004 Arthur C. Clarke award, for the best science fiction novel which received its first British publication during the previous calendar year, was presented to Neal Stephenson for Quicksilver. The ceremony was at The English Heritage Lecture Theatre, New Burlington Place, London on Wednesday, May 12.

The award consists of an inscribed plaque in the form of a bookend, and a cash prize equal to the year, in this case £2004. The winner of the award was selected by 5 judges.

This was the first year that the award has been presented at the Theatre. The previous venue, the Science Museum, become too expensive.
