Amazing Stories 602
Summer 2000 - #602
Wizards of the Coast, Inc. has announced that the company is in the midst of negotiating a deal to sell its Amazing Stories science fiction magazine and expects to have an announcement in time for the World Science Fiction Convention in early September. The identity of the potential buyer was not revealed.

This announcement was made following a period of industry speculation that the magazine had either closed or been sold to Galazyonline.com.

Johnny Wilson, group publisher of Wizards of the Coast periodicals, announced that "major personalities" in the science fiction community have approached the company with an offer. He said that day-to-day operations for the publishing of Amazing Stories have been set aside in order to expedite closing of the negotiations for sale.

Amazing Stories was founded in 1926 by Hugo Gernsback. It ran for 69 years before being closing in 1995 when TSR, failed to find a buyer for the magazine. Wizards of the Coast relaunched Amazing in 1998 with a significant media tie-in.
