Jack Cady (1933-2004)

Author and retired writing teacher, Jack Cady, passed away Wednesday evening of complications from cancer.

The recipient of most major awards in science fiction, fantasy and horror, Cady, publish 14 novels and short fiction collections. His best known works included The Haunting of Hood Canal and The Night We Buried Road Dog.

He lived a full life, working as a truck driver, an auctioneer, a warehouseman prior to teaching creative writing at Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, Washington.

Cady will be cremated in a private ceremony, but there will be a celebration of his life and art in Port Townsend, WA in March.

He is survived by his wife of 27 years, writer Carol Orlock; 4 children by a previous marriage; and two sisters.

Orlock asked that remembrances in his name be sent to the Jack Cady Scholarship Fund at Pacific Lutheran University, Development Office, 1010 122nd St. S., Tacoma, WA, 98447.
