*************************************************** Anne McCaffrey wins Margaret A. Edwards Award *************************************************** Anne McCaffrey is this year's recipient of the Margaret A. Edwards Award. Established in 1988, this award honors an author's lifetime achievement for writing books that have been popular with teenagers. The award was announced at the American Library Association meeting in January, and will be presented at a luncheon at the annual conference, held this June in New Orleans. McCaffrey will be present to accept the award. The ALA has created a gold seal for placement on all Anne McCaffrey titles. The Margaret A. Edwards Award is administered by the Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA) and sponsored by School Library Journal magazine. It recognizes an author's work in helping adolescents become aware of themselves and addressing questions about their role and importance in relationships, society, and in the world. Criteria include literary quality and popularity with young adults. Last year, the award went to Madeleine L'Engle for The Austin Family Series and the Time Fantasy Series. www.randomhouse.com/delrey/
