*************************************************** SFWA Officers to Meet with FTC on Sale of Ingram *************************************************** A delegation of past and present SFWA officers--including President Paul Levinson, Vice President Ann Crispin, former President Michael Capobianco, and possibly others--is slated to meet January 21 with the FTC attorney handling the investigation of the Barnes & Noble acquisition of book distributor Ingram. "He's quite interested in talking to us, and we'll have a lot to say," Levinson posted on SFF Net. During that meeting, the delegation would like to present the attorney with a "nice, thick file" of letters of protest and complaint written by individual members. If you have already sent letters to the FTC, Department of Justice, or your representatives in Congress, please send a courtesy copy ASAP to: Ann Crispin, 14005 Robey Drive, Hughesville, MD 20637-2040 If you haven't yet made your voice heard, this would be an ideal time. Paper copies (especially on your letterhead) are preferred, but late submissions can be made via e-mail to: anncrispin@aol.com Reproduced with permission from SFWA Online Update No. 36 |
