Marion Zimmer Bradley suffered a major heart attack on Tuesday, September 21 and died Saturday, September 25, 1999. Funeral arrangements are pending and will be posted here when final. Memorial donations may be sent to her church:

Her funeral will be held on Sunday, October 17, 1999, at 2:00 p.m. at Saint Mark's Episcopal Church in Berkeley, CA.

Marion Zimmer Bradley's best known works were The Mists of Avalon, the DARKOVER series of novels and the SWORD AND SORCERESS series of anthologies. She founded Marion Zimmer Bradley’s Fantasy Magazine in 1988. Her writing and leadership inspired many fans of science fiction and fantasy to start writing careers.

Several memorial services are being planned.
