Pat York

Pat York at the Nebula Awards in 2001 Teacher and author, Patricia York passed away at 3 PM on Saturday, May 21 when the automobile in which she was riding was struck by a bus in Columbus, Ohio. Her daughter, Elanor York, was driving the car was been hospitalized. Pat was age 57.

Pat recently retired from a career as a teacher and was devoting more time to her writing. She published short fiction in various publications and was twice a Finalist in the Writers Of the Future Contest. Her short story "You Wandered Off Like A Foolish Child To Break Your Heart And Mine" was a finalist for the 2000 Nebula Awards and was reprinted in Nebula Awards Showcase 2002.

Pat was a long time member of Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America where she had served as a volunteer.

Her friends are invited to celebrate Pat's life during open houses on Monday, May 30 and Tuesday, May 31 from 4PM - 9PM at the York home at 783 Chestnuthill Road in East Aurora, NY. Memorial contributions may be made to the Buffalo Hospice.

She is survived by her husband James and children Nora and Ben.
