****************************************************************** Convention to honor 100th anniversary of Heinlein's birth ****************************************************************** Heinlein Centennial, Inc. has announced plans for a convention to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the birth of the Dean of science fiction writers, Robert A. Heinlein. The Heinlein Centennial Convention will be a multi-faceted event celebrating Heinlein's life, works and far-reaching influence. The convention will be held July 6-8, 2007 at the Hyatt Regency Crown Center & Westin Crown Center hotels in Kansas City. Memberships will initially be available for $50, with the first price increase in July. The at the door price is expected to be in the $150-200 range. Heinlein was born in Butler, Missouri, approximately 50 miles south of Kansas City, on July 7, 1907 (07/07/07). His family moved to Kansas City a few months later and he graduated from KC’s Center High School. At least 3 of the homes where the lived are still standing. In 1976 RAH returned to Kansas City to be honored as guest of honor at MidAmeriCon, the 34th World Science Fiction Convention. Kansas City is featured in several Heinlein novels, most notably in The Puppet Masters, which story begins July 12, 2007, just one week after the Heinlein Centennial Convention.
