Sonya Dorman Hess (1924-2005)

Sonya Dorman Hess passed away in Taos, New Mexico on February 14, 2005. Born in New York City in 1924, she lived in Taos since 1986, most recently at the Plaza de Retiro continuing care retirement community.

Using the names Sonya Dorman and Sonya Hess, she wrote short science fiction, poetry and essays . She published seven collections of poems, and won the Rhysling Award from the Science Fiction Poetry Association for "Corruption of Metals." Her short story "When I Was Miss Dow" was nominated for the Nebula Award and short listed for a Retrospective Tiptree Award.

Internment will be in Auburn, Maine. Memorials should be sent to the Sonya Hess collection at the Taos Public Library.
