Warren Norwood (1945-2005)

Warren Norwood, author, teacher and musician, died of liver disease in Weatherford, Texas on Friday June 3, 2005 at the age of 59.

Warren was a former member of Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America. He wrote at least 13 novels, most of them in the 1980s, including the series that began with The Windhover Tapes: An Image Of Voices.

He was a longtime employee of Craig's Music in Weatherford, Texas, and taught writing at Weatherford College.

A veteran of the Vietnam War, Warren received the Purple Heart, Bronze Star and Army Commendation Medal.

Warren's manuscripts and papers are in the Texanna Collection of the Willis Library at the University of North Texas in Denton. Anyone wishing to make a contribution in Warren's memory should direct it there.

A memorial service will be held at Craig's Music, 115 E. Spring St., Weatherford, TX at 7PM on July 12.

Survivors include his wife, Gigi Sherrell Norwood; daughter, Margaret Donnelly; parents, Mary and Warren H. Norwood; brothers, Richard Norwood and David Norwood; sister, Sandra Kirbie; sister-in-law, Jan Sherrell Gephardt; and six grandchildren.
