2009 Rhysling Award Winners

2009 Rhysling Awards announced by the Science Fiction Poetry Association to honor achievement in speculative poetry, were announced Saturday, July 11 at ReaderCon in Burlington, Massachusetts.

Short poem (1-49 lines):

    Winner: Amal El-Mohtar, "Song for an Ancient City"
    2nd Place: Samantha Henderson, "Spell"
    3rd Place: Billy Collins, "The Future"
Long poem (50+ lines):
    Winner: Geoffrey A. Landis, "Search"
    2nd Place: Samantha Henderson, "Hungry: Some Ghost Stories"
    3rd Place: Amal El-Mohtar and Catherynne M. Valente, "Damascus Divides the Lovers by Zero, or the City is Never Finished"
