The Doubletree Hotel is at 10740 Wilshire Boulevard, between Selby and Malcolm Avenues. Ohio and Wilshire are parallel streets. Walk south on either Selby or Malcolm (toward Century City) from Wilshire Blvd. 10750 Ohio is a Catholic church/school complex.


Friday April 27

10 am -- noon
Jet Propulsion Laboratory Tour
(Advance signup required--tour is now full)

2:00 pm -- 5:00 pm
Caltech Tour
California Institute of Technology
Group is a subset of the JPL Tour and will be leaving from the JPL at noon.

SFWA® Board of Directors meeting
The board will be meeting in a room of the Presidential Suite, but the rest of the suite will continue to be available for people to hang out in.

9:00 pm
Dessert party sponsored by SCIFI (the Southern California Institute for Fan Interests)

2:00 am
Presidential Suite closes for the night.


Saturday April 28

7:30 am
Presidential Suite opens (Doubletree Hotel) for breakfast snacks. It will remain open until 4 pm, when registration moves to the Hilton.

8:00 am
Shuttle buses begin running to UCLA, for the SFWA® Business Meeting, the Los Angeles Times Festival of Books, and the Nebula Awards® Weekend panels. The 8:00 am shuttle will have handicap access.

Signings at the Dangerous Vision/SFWA® Booth at the Los Angeles Times Festival of Books.

Adventures in the Screen Trades. Bradley Building, UCLA campus.
Moderator: Michael Cassutt. Panelists: Paul Guay (Liar, Liar, The Heartbreakers), Robert Burnett (Free Enterprise), Len Wein (WarPlanets, Reboot, X-Men), and (tentative) Neil Gaiman (Neverwhen).

12:30 pm
Handicap-access shuttle from Bradley Building to Doubletree Hotel.

1:15 pm
Panel:
Legal Questions & Answers. Bradley Building, UCLA campus.
A panel of attorneys will be available to answer your questions about Internet piracy, agents and managers, theft of ideas, and what to do when your publisher declares bankruptcy.

2:30 pm
Panel:
How to Promote Your Work Without Feeling Like an Ass. Bradley Building, UCLA campus.
Pat Murphy, Michaela Roessner, Quendrith Johnson (V.P. Envision), Vera Nazarian, Laura Anne Gilman.
A public-relations professional and writers will discuss methods of promoting your work.

3:45 pm (tentative)
Presentation:
Philip Jose Farmer's Career. Bradley Building, UCLA campus.
Mary Turzillo, winner of the Nebula Award® for Best Novelette of 1999, and author (under her scholarly name, Mary T. Brizzi) of a 1984 book on the subject, discusses the work of the 2001 Grand Master.

4:00 pm
The Presidential Suite at the Doubletree Hotel closes.

Around 5 pm
Shuttles begin operating between the Doubletree and Hilton Hotels. (6:00 pm: Handicap access shuttle from Doubletree to Hilton.)

5:45 pm
Registration opens at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.

6:45 pm
Cocktail reception at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.

7:30 pm
 ** Nebula Awards® Banquet

Versailles Room of the Beverly Hilton Hotel.

This is a black-tie-optional event.

8:30 pm
 **  **  ** Nebula Awards® Ceremony
Versailles Room of the Beverly Hilton Hotel.
Presentation of the Nebula Awards®, Grand Master Award, and Bradbury Award, and honoring of this year's Author Emeritus. Seating will be available in the banquet room for those with parties-only registration to come in and watch the awards presentations.

10:30 pm (or at the conclusion of the awards ceremony)
Shuttles begin operating between the Doubletree and Hilton Hotels. (11:00 pm: Handicap access shuttle from Hilton to Doubletree.)

10:30 pm (or at the conclusion of the awards ceremony)
Presidential Suite at the Doubletree Hotel opens again until about 3 am.


Sunday April 29

8:00 am
Presidential Suite at the Doubletree reopens for breakfast snacks for people who want to have something to eat before leaving for the Festival of Books or travel home.

11:30 am
Presidential Suite at the Doubletree closes for cleanup and will not reopen.
