Welcome to the 2002 Nebula Awards® Weekend, the premiere event of Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America (SFWA).

The Nebula Awards are voted on, and presented by, active members of SFWA. Founded as the Science Fiction Writers of America in 1965 by Damon Knight, the organization began with a charter membership of 78 writers; it now has over 1,200 members, among them most of the leading writers of SF and fantasy.

The Westin Hotel is located in the heart of one of Kansas City's major entertainment districts. The Crown Center complex, built by Hallmark, contains numerous upscale shops, restaurants, theaters and movie theaters. Just across the street visitors will find our newly restored Union Station, Science City, a new state-of-the-art planetarium, and an IMAX theater, plus numerous exhibits, and still more shops, and restaurants. All these facilities, and more, are connected by the LINK, a system of walkways.

The weekend will include a mass autograph session hosted by Walden Books in the Crown Center atrium from 5:30PM-7:30PM on Friday night. It will be followed by a reception for all event attendees in the Westin Crown Center.

Saturday's activities will include a business meeting (open only to members), most likely some other presentations, a 7PM reception and a 8PM banquet followed by the awards ceremony on Saturday evening.

There may be a couple of organized side trips on Thursday evening and during the day on Friday and Saturday.

The 2002 Nebula Awards® Weekend is being hosted by local SFWAns Robin Wayne Bailey, Paula Helm Murray, Allison Stein, Keith W. Stokes and Dave Truesdale, with the assistance of the 100 member Kansas City Science Fiction and Fantasy Society.
