Note-In the belief that Robert Charles Wilson's "The Perseids" was long enough to qualify as a novella, the short fiction jury added it to the final Nebula Awards ballot in that category. Unfortunately, the actual length of "The Perseids" is less than 17,500 words, making it ineligible for the Nebula for best novella. However, the work remains eligible for next year's Nebula for best novelette.

Note-There was a mistake on the preliminary ballot. The work "Jesus at the Bat" was incorrectly listed as a novella, but at 9,000 words, is a novelette. After consultation with the Nebula Awards Committee, we decided that if the work qualified in either the Novella or Novelette category, it would be placed as a sixth work in the Novelette category, and the top five novelettes would be placed with it. Deadlines did not allow us to remail ballots, and this seemed the fairest resolution for all involved.
