Nebula Awards Weekend
The Forty-Seventh Nebula Awards Weekend will be held Thursday through Sunday, May 17 to May 20, 2012 at the Hyatt Regency Crystal City in Arlington, Virginia, near Reagan National Airport. Parking is available nearby.
We honor Connie Willis as our Grand Master!
To register, go to the Nebula Awards Weekend page and then click on “Registration” in the menu to the immediate left. Then scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on the “Register” button.
Tours, workshops and panels are available for registered attendees (the number of people who can be accommodated on the tours and workshops is limited.)
Ship packages home via UPS Sunday from 11:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. at the hotel.
The Mass Autographing Session on Friday, May 18th will be followed by a reception to honor the nominees and other honorees.
Our Toastmaster, Walter Jon Williams, will conduct a half-day Writers Workshop, emphasizing structure and plotting, on Friday morning. Astronaut Mike Fincke is our Keynote Speaker.
You don’t have to be a nominee, a member of SFWA, or even a writer to participate in the weekend. There will be seating in the rear of the room for those who wish to see the ceremony but were not at the banquet. The cost to register is $100.00 for non-SFWA members and $90.00 for SFWA members from now on and at the door. Banquet tickets and memberships are no longer available unless prior arrangements have been made.

You are eligible to join SFWA if you fall into one of the categories below:
Active Members
Established authors with three qualifying short story sales, one qualifying novel sale, or one professionally produced full-length dramatic script.
As an Active Member, you’ll be able to talk with other writers, agents, editors and industry professionals about the business and craft of science fiction and fantasy through our private discussion forums and convention suites. We’ll send you a complimentary copy of our Member Directory as well as valuable advice, market tips, and insider information in our bi-monthly Bulletin.
As an active member, you will be able to nominate works and vote in the Nebula Awards, vote for officers, and hold office yourself. You will also be eligible to receive assistance from Griefcom, the Emergency Medical Fund, and other SFWA committees. Perhaps more importantly, you will be able to contribute to the future of SF by nurturing new writers.
Associate Members
Authors with at least one qualifying short story sale.
As an Associate Member, you’ll be able to talk with other writers, agents, editors and industry professionals about the business and craft of science fiction and fantasy through our private discussion forums and convention suites. We’ll send you a complimentary copy of our Member Directory as well as valuable advice, market tips, and insider information in our bi-monthly Bulletin. You will also be able to mentor new writers and nominate works for the Nebula Awards.
Affiliate Members
Persons who have a professional involvement in science fiction or fantasy (such as academics, editors, agents, artists, graphic novelists, reviewers, etc,) but are not eligible to become an active or associate member may join as affiliates.
As an Affiliate Member, you’ll be able to talk with writers, agents, editors and other industry professionals about the business and craft of science fiction and fantasy through our private discussion forums and convention suites. We’ll send you a complimentary copy of our Member Directory as well as a copy of our bi-monthly Bulletin.
Institutional Members
Organizations with legitimate interest in science fiction and fantasy or individuals associated with these groups.
As an Institutional Member, you will be supporting some of the finest minds in the current generation of writers and will have the opportunity to mingle with them via private convention suites. For the cost of printing and shipping, you may also opt to receive our Member Directory and keep abreast of events via our bi-monthly Bulletin.
Estate Members
Legal representatives for the estates of Active members.
As an Estate Member, you’ll receive access to private discussion forums and convention suites and receive complimentary copies of our Member Directory and the bi-monthly Bulletin. You will also receive an entry in our Estate Listings for those who are seeking reprint rights to stories.
