Fall "I Am a Writer" Seminar and Workshop Set"I Am a Writer," a one-day writer's seminar and critique workshop, is set for Saturday, Sept 27, 2003, in Sandy. Hosted by professional writer Ken Rand of West Jordan, the events will help new and advanced writers of fiction and nonfiction to write better, write faster, and earn more. The seminar is based on a curriculum Rand designed as well as on talks he makes at conferences and workshops throughout the country. Rand, award-winning author of two dozen books, more than 100 short stories, 200 humor columns, and countless articles and interviews, brings 30-plus years experience as a reporter for print and radio, a PR "flack," and a freelance writer to his teaching. According to Rand, writers create in four distinct stages: Coming up with ideas, writing, editing, and marketing. His all-day seminar explores these concepts in depth with a lecture, handouts, exercises, articles, references, suggested reading lists, "homework," and free copies of his highly acclaimed book, The 10% Solution: Self-editing for the Modern Writer. In addition to the seminar, Rand will critique manuscripts in a workshop setting. The critique workshop is separate from the seminar, and "you don't need to submit a manuscript to attend just the seminar," Rand said. There is a deadline and other details regarding the critique workshop, so Rand urges interested writers to contact him soonest. Rand also offers all attendees personal "tech support" after the events. I Am A Writer seminar and workshop will be held at the Hampton Inn in Sandy, Utah, at 108th South, just off I-15. To register for the seminar ($60), for the critique workshop ($20), or both, or for more information, contact Ken Rand, 1498 Bora Bora Dr., West Jordan, UT 84084. E-mail KRand27577@aol.com. Phone 801-568-1666. Writers must register for the seminar and critique session by Sept. 20. Since I Am A Writer is limited to 20 applicants, and the critique workshop to 10 applicants, interested writers are urged to contact Rand soonest. |Biography|
