"I Am a Writer Seminar" Expands to Two-Day Event

Hosted by professional writer Ken Rand of West Jordan, UT, "I Am a Writer" will help new and advanced writers of fiction and nonfiction to write better, write faster, and earn more.

The seminar is based on a curriculum Rand designed and on talks he makes at conferences and workshops throughout the country. Rand, award-winning author of two dozen books, more than 100 short stories, 200 humor columns, and countless articles and interviews, brings 30-plus years experience as a reporter for print and radio, a PR "flack," and a freelance writer to his teaching.

According to Rand, writers create in four stages: Generating ideas, writing, editing, and marketing. His two-day seminar explores these concepts in depth with lectures, handouts, hands-on exercises, and "homework."

Originally a one-day event, the seminar has been expanded to include new material, to examine concepts in greater depth, and to allow writers to pick and choose which of the four event segments best meets their needs and budgets.

The segments (about 3 hours each):

  • From Idea to Story in 90 Seconds: a Writer's Primer (Saturday morning)
  • The Craft of Writing (Saturday afternoon);
  • The 10% Solution: Self-editing for the Modern Writer (Sunday morning)
  • Marketing Your Writing (Sunday afternoon)

Those who attend two or more segments will receive a free copy of Rand's acclaimed book, The 10% Solution: Self-editing for the Modern Writer.
