With undergraduate and graduate degrees in translation from the Université de Montréal, in Montreal, Quebec and a doctorate in interdisciplinary studies (translation studies, communication studies and management) from Concordia University, also in Montreal, Quebec, Sheryl Curtis works as a professional translator, specializing in technical and corporate documents. During the course of her career, she also taught translation over a period of 20 years as a member of the part-time faculty at Concordia University. More recently, she decided to leave the academic world to devote time to literary translation. Since 1998, her English adaptations of short stories written by various French and Quebec authors have appeared in Interzone, Year’s Best Science Fiction 4, Year’s Best Fantasy and Horror 15, On Spec, Altair, Tesseracts8, and elsewhere.
