John M. Ford (1957-2006)

Teresa Nielson Hayden is reporting the death of John Milo Ford in the blog Making Light. Ford had health issues, but the cause of his death is not yet known. The body was found around 2 AM, today, September 25, 2006.

Born April 10, 1957, Ford was the author of novels, short stories (two collections), poems, articles, and reviews. His first sale was at the age of 18, the short story "This Too, We Reconcile" which appeared in the May, 1976 issue of Analog.

Ford's work was nominated for many awards. He won the World Fantasy Award for the novel The Dragon Waiting: A Masque of History and for the poem "Winter Solstice, Camelot Station." His novel Growing up Weightless won the Philip K. Dick Award in 1994.

There will memorial service, but it is not expected for several weeks.
