Ken Slater (1919-2008)

Science fiction fan, Ken Slater passed away this past weekend. He was 91.

Slater wrote a review column for Nebula Science Fiction through the 1950s and was a founder of the British Science Fiction Association (BSFA) in 1958. He become Vice-Chairman of the BSFA in 1966. He was a fanzine fan, bookseller, and convention runner who became well known at conventions around Europe.

He was proceeded in death by his wife of nearly 50 years, Joyce Slater, in 1995. The were both recognized as Fan Guests of Honor at Conspiracy, the 87th World Science Fiction Convention, in Brighton in 1987.
