Hugh B. Cave (1910-2004)

The Eval by Hugh B. Cave Hugh Barnet Cave, who was successful as a pulp writer, mainstream magazine writer and novelist, passed away on Sunday June 27, 2004. He was in hospice-care for his last few days.

Cave produced over 800 stories for the pulp magazines, mostly horror, detective and supernatural. His writing career ran from the 1920s to the present. His first professional publication was in 1929 and his novel The Mountains of Madness was published just this year.

He received many awards, including the World Fantasy Award, World Fantasy Life Achievement Award, World Fantasy Special Convention Award, Bram Stoker Life Achievement Award, and the Living Legend Award from the International Horror Guild.

There will be no funeral. He will be cremated and his ashes mixed with those of his wife Peggie.
