World Science Fiction Convention Site Selection activity

Yokohama, Japan will be the site of the 65th World Science Fiction Convention from August 30 to September 3, 2007. Nipon2007 received 935 out of the 1,686 votes cast. Columbus in 2007 received 692.

Site selection for the 2007 North American Science Fiction Convention (which is only held in years that the WorldCon is outside North America) will be conducted at CascadiaCon (the 2005 NASFiC) in Seattle,Washington.

St. Louis in 2007 is the only group which has announced a bid for the 2007 NASFiC. They have not announced what date or facilities they will use if they win site selection.

Future WorldCon Site Selection will take place at the WorldCon 2 years in advance of the convention. There will be no site selection at the 63rd WorldCon in Glasgow in 2005.

Two bids have announced for the 2008 WorldCon: a fledgling Denver bid and a Chicago bid which is bidding the Labor Day weekend, but has not yet selected facilities.

Two bids have announced for the 2009 WorldCon: a fledgling Montreal bid and a Kansas City bid which is bidding the Labor Day Weekend at the Overland Park (Kansas) Convention Center, attached Sheraton and other hotels.

Australia is the only bid for 2010. They have not selected a city or date.

Washington, D. C. is the only community to have expressed interest in hosting the 2011 WorldCon, but that is tentative at this time.
