Howard Fast (1914-2003)

Howard Fast, best-selling author of over 80 novels and many other works, died Wednesday at his home in Old Greenwich, Connecticut.

Fast's first novel, Two Valleys, came out in 1933. His last, Greenwich, in 2000. He is best known for Spartacus, Freedom Road, Citizen Tom Paine and the Lavette family saga which began with The Immigrants. Spartacus was made into an Academy Award winning movie.

Some of his science fiction titles are included in the anthologies The General Zapped an Angel and The Edge of Tomorrow.

The memorial services are private, but donations may be made to The Fellowship of Reconciliation, 521 N. Broadway, Nyack, NY 10960; or The Interfaith Alliance, 1331 H Street, NW, 11th Floor, Washington, DC 20005
