The 1999 Hugos were awarded at Aussiecon 3, the World Science Fiction Convention, on September 4, 1999, in Melborne, Australia. The Hugos are nominated and voted on by the membership of the WorldCon.

- Novella: "Oceanic" by Greg Egan
- Novelette: "Taklamakan" by Bruce Sterling
- Short Story: "The Very Pulse of the Machine" by Michael Swanwick
- Non-Fiction Book: The Dreams Our Stuff is Made Of: How Science Fiction Conquered the World by Thomas M. Disch
- Dramatic Presentation: The Truman Show (Paramount)
- Professional Editor: Gardner Dozois
- Professional Artist: Bob Eggleton
- Semi-Prozine: Locus (Charles N. Brown, ed.)

Also presented was the John W. Campbell Award for Best New Writer (not a Hugo) - Nalo Hopkinson
