EMF fund raising at Noreascon is a success
***************************************************
The EMF auction at Noreascon 4 raised over $2400 for the Emergency Medical Fund. As expected, the highest-priced item was the Musketeer Captain doll, which went for $810 in a hot bidding war. Other big-ticket sales were $500 for a tuckerization offered by Laura Anne Gilman and $100 for a mock pulp magazine cover that was formerly the booby prize in a Washington area poker game. Lawrence Schoen was an entertaining and effective auctioneer. Laura Anne Gilman, Keith DeCandido and jan howard finder helped out as runners, and Peter Liverakos as cashier. Many thanks as well to all the members who donated books, artwork, and numerous other items (vampire rubber ducky, etc.) to the Worldcon auction.
Also thanks to the party-goers in the SFWA suite and at the Saturday SFF.Net party, who put over $250 into the tip jar; to the Musketeers, who raised $121.77 with their Saturday performance. Donations at the Dealer's Room table put another $94.30 into the coffers. Our grand total for the weekend comes to $2929.28.
Finally, I'd like to extend special appreciation to the many members who quietly included checks for the EMF in their dues renewal envelopes over the last several months; thanks to all of you, the EMF is stronger than ever.
