Three readings and signings have been set during Alpha, the SF/F/H Workshop for Young Writers, a ten-day residency workshop held yearly in Western PA.
On Friday, the 21st of July, 2006, meet Theodora Goss and hear her read from her new book In the Forest of Forgetting from Wildside Press, a June release. Tobias Buckell will be on stage the same evening. One third of his debut novel Crystal Rain can be read online.
Join us on Sunday, the 23rd of July for Hugo award-winning author Timothy Zahn. The latest of his legendary Star Wars books, Outbound Flight (Del Rey 2006), reached #1 on the New York Times Best Sellers list.
On Wednesday, the 26th of July, a double treat of YA guru Tamora Pierce and author Wen Spencer. Tammy has a series of audio releases of her books and paperbacks of recent issues. Highly recommend: her story in the anthology Firebirds Rising: An Original Anthology of Science Fiction and Fantasy (2006). Wolf Who Rules is just out, the sequel to Tinker. Pittsburgh is featured in both the Tinker series and Wen's Ukiah series.
Students from the Alpha workshop will also read their works. All the book signings begin at 7:30 PM.
