Jeanne Robinson — wife of writer Spider Robinson — was shortlisted to go into space aboard the Shuttle as part of NASA's Civilians in Space program. After the Challenger disaster, that program got canceled, and Jeanne never got to go into space, where she would have pioneered zero-gravity dance, as described in their Hugo and Nebula-winning Stardance that she and Spider wrote together. But the dream lives on. Spider, Jeanne, and producer/director James Sposto, composer James Raymond, and dancer Kathleen McDonagh have teamed up to make a large format film based on Stardance. On December 30, 2007, Jeanne, along with her “Stardancer” Kathleen, will rocket through parabolic arcs in a specially designed 727 operated by Zero-G Corporation, compliments of founder, Dr. Peter Diamandis. Director James Sposto will be filming them as they put Jeanne’s concepts of “dance beyond the bonds of gravity” to the test as part of pre-production for her Stardance film. Jeanne, Spider, and the rest of their team need the support of fans to make the Stardance film a reality. Full details are at The Stardance Experience. |
