
Chelsea Quinn Yarbro (15 September 1942–31 August 2025) was a prolific writer of novels and short stories across a wide range of speculative genres. Yarbro was honored with a World Horror Convention Grand Master Award, a World Fantasy Convention Life Achievement Award, and was the first woman given a Living Legend Award by the International Horror Guild.
Yarbro was known for her variety of interests, including cartography, music composition, cooking, sewing, historical research, tarot card reading, and palmistry—and also for being the first to read The Eye of Argon by Jim Theis at a gathering of writers.
Yarbro wrote daily, creating an extensive catalogue including the twenty-seven book Saint-Germain Vampire Cycle, not counting companion series and stories, for which she was awarded knighthood by the Transylvanian Society of Dracula. Two of her novels, The Palace and Ariosto, were World Fantasy Award finalists.
