Promoting Excellent Work for Awards

SFWA has run the Nebula Awards, one of the premier awards in speculative fiction, for over 60 years. The Nebula Awards are especially significant as the only major speculative fiction award voted on by fellow writers rather than fans. The Nebula Awards Showcase highlights the amazing work of our Nebula Award winners and finalists each year in one stellar package.

Boosting Each Other’s Launch Campaigns

SFWA members promote each others’ work socially, supporting each other on Discord, the forums, and social media. SFWA also promotes its members’ work through the New Release Newsletter, discounted access to NetGalley for distributing review copies, and through its Featured Author and Featured Book programs. We’re hard at work developing further ways to promote our members’ work, such as medium- and genre-specific release newsletters to reach interested audiences.

Improving Access to Professional Resources

SFWA provides access to services like NetGalley and BookFunnel at discounted rates, bringing them within reach for more authors. For authors who have passed on, SFWA also provides Estate and Legacy services. SFWA is also currently planning ways to bring further professional development opportunities to its members.

Networking with Industry Partners, Educators, and Librarians

SFWA serves as a hub of information and connection for anyone interested in science fiction, fantasy, horror, and related genres in any medium. Through our member events, the Nebula Conference, the Constellation Event series, and other programming, we bring stakeholders into conversations with the best and brightest authors – and help authors make industry and educational connections to spread their work and grow their career. We also make it easy for authors to connect to partners in their areas through programs like our NRN Catalog, a monthly free downloadable catalog that authors can share with booksellers, librarians, and others.
