SFWA Market Report For October

Series Banner for SFWA Monthly Market Report with SFWA logo

Welcome to the October edition of the SFWA Market Report.

Please note: Inclusion of any venue in this report does not indicate an official endorsement by SFWA. Those markets included on this list pay at least $0.08/word USD in at least one category of fiction. This compilation is not exhaustive of all publication opportunities that pay our recommended minimum professional rate. Additionally, SFWA adheres to our DEI Policy when making selections for this report. We strongly encourage writers to closely review all contracts and consult our resources on best contract practices.

ADVOCACY NOTE

On behalf of the SFF writing community, SFWA has continued to engage with MUST READ MAGAZINES in regards to the contracts applicable to Analog, Asimov’s, and F&SF.

Our partner in these Monthly Market Reports, Submission Grinder, is currently not listing these magazines, but we believe that MUST READ has made progress on updating their boilerplate agreement. SFWA continues to be open to dialogue with MUST READ, and to continue to serve our fellow writers as advocates for fair contract practices.

As always, SFWA strongly recommends that you read any contract you receive carefully, and be sure to understand it completely.  If you have any questions about a contract you receive from any SFF publication, please write to the Contracts Committee to learn more about what is and is not common/ethical practice in our industry.
