Baltimore Science Fiction Society Writing Workshop

The Baltimore Science Fiction Society has issued the following release:

bsfslogoThe Baltimore Science Fiction Society, a 501(c)(3) located at 3310 East Baltimore Street, Baltimore, Maryland 21224, is proud to announce more writing workshops for 2013 run by professional writers. On Saturday, January 26th, Jonathan Maberry will teach, “From Raw to Cooked: Professional Story Development” to help writers take an initial idea and develop it into a compelling framework for a novel. On June 15th, Morgan Keyes will lecture on, “The Business of Writing,” going in-depth on vital aspects of the industry such as traditional versus self-publishing, the necessity and value of agents, the synopsis, specific market concerns for genre writers, and so on. And on September 21, Dr. Catherine Asaro will teach, “Using Science in Science Fiction,” for those writers who want to learn how to successfully integrate believable science into their fiction.

The Jonathan Maberry workshop has sold out, but seats still remain for both of the June 15th Morgan Keyes and September 21 Dr. Asaro workshops. Jonathan Maberry is a prolific writer who has experience in many genres. The New York Times Bestseller and Bram Stoker Award winner has published novels and short stories which fall into the categories of science fiction, mystery, and horror, along with his work in such prime Marvel Comics as Black Panther, Captain America, and Wolverine. Morgan Keyes has published seventeen novels in a variety of genres, ranging from traditional fantasy to category romance.  She regularly writes articles on the business of writing for the Romance Writers Report, and she blogs about a wide range of topics relevant to readers and writers of genre fiction.  Her alter-ego, Mindy Klasky, worked for several years as a lawyer and a librarian, but she now writes full-time.  For more information on Morgan in both her guises, please see and

Dr. Catherine Asaro was born and raised in California. She holds a Ph.D. from Harvard in chemical physics. A singer, dancer, songwriter, teacher, speaker and fiction writer, her fiction has won many awards, including the Sapphire Award, the Prism Award, and the Nebula.
