The Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers Association was founded as the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America in 1965 by Damon Knight, with the intention of promoting, encouraging, supporting, and defending science fiction and fantasy writers and their art.
In the over sixty years since, SFWA has stood as one of the most effective non-profit writers’ organizations in existence. We invite you to learn more about our programs, our educational efforts, and our standards for membership in case you’d like to join our community.
