Frank Robinson Honored as Special Guest During 2014 Nebula Award Weekend

SFWA is delighted to honor Special Guest Frank Robinson at the 49thNebula Awards Weekend, for his contributions to the science fiction and fantasy genre.

Frank Robinson is the author of the novel The Glass Inferno (the basis for The Towering Inferno) and The Dark Between the Stars, as well as the Hugo Award-winning Science Fiction of the Twentieth Century: An Illustrated History, among others. He also served as a speech writer to San Francisco politician Harvey Milk, and ran Playboy’s Advisor column. Several of his books have been produced for film and TV.

SFWA President Steven Gould:  I’ve known Frank since he showed kindness to me at my first World Fantasy Convention over 27 years ago. He is a novelist, screenwriter, journalist, speechwriter (for Harvey Milk!), genre historian, art collector, and good friend. I first ran into his work adapted for film (THE POWER with George Hamilton and Michael Rennie) but it was the book version that kept me up at night with my neck hair standing on end. It is an honor to be the one to bestow this recognition on him, a recognition he more than deserves.

Robinson’s contributions will be honored at the 49th Annual Nebula Awards Weekend in San Jose, CA, May 16-18, 2014.
